Single Degree students have an option to take an integrated programme by extending their undergraduate study by one year, leading to the award of a bachelor’s degree plus a DipEd, which is a taught programme leading to a professional qualification for teaching in local schools. Designed for undergraduates who aspire to a teaching career, this programme aims to develop students’ knowledge, abilities, personal qualities and philosophies thus enabling them to assume effective roles within the teaching profession. Students who enrol in this programme receive teacher training in the final three years of their studies while they study for their first degree. Integrating subject knowledge with pedagogical knowledge and skills in this way helps to prepare students to enter the teaching profession.
